Advantage Tech is searching for a Regional Billing Manager to join our client’s Kansas City–based finance organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all billing operations across a high-volume professional services environment. The ideal candidate brings deep billing expertise, proven team leadership experience, and the ability to optimize processes while delivering exceptional service to attorneys, internal stakeholders, and external clients. This role requires strong operational judgment, a proactive mindset, and the ability to build and mentor a high-performing billing team.
The Work
The Regional Billing Manager leads all aspects of billing operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across a multi-office environment. This role manages staff workloads, drives process improvements, partners with firm leadership on strategic billing initiatives, and maintains a high level of customer service. Responsibilities include oversight of billing cycles, documentation integrity, month-end support, onboarding of new shareholders, and continuous workflow optimization.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, manage, and continuously improve all time and billing processes in alignment with organizational policies.
- Lead, coach, and develop billing staff, including workload assignment, performance evaluations, and training needs.
- Identify opportunities to streamline billing operations, enhance workflows, and implement best practices.
- Ensure billing documentation and client/attorney preferences are accurate and consistently maintained.
- Educate attorneys and staff on billing tools, processes, and system capabilities.
- Partner with Finance & Accounting teams to deliver accurate, timely billing and financial reporting.
- Maintain high responsiveness and service quality for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support onboarding of new shareholders, including billing preferences and procedural training.
- Assist with month-end close and ensure accurate reporting, reconciliation, and compliance.
- Drive professional development initiatives and goal completion for team members.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and proper documentation of billing activities.
- Ensure attendance, communication responsiveness, and consistency in hybrid work expectations.
- Support additional billing and financial operations tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of billing experience within a professional services or legal billing environment.
- 3+ years of billing team management or supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience coaching, influencing, and developing teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and presentation abilities.
- Proven ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple initiatives in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective, timely decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with shifting priorities and operational demands.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and documentation integrity.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.

- Hands-on experience with Elite or 3E billing systems.
- Experience supporting multi-office billing operations.
