Job Description
The Infrastructure Engineer III is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting enterprise network systems, with a strong focus on firewall and VPN administration. This role involves managing and troubleshooting complex networking environments, contributing to strategic infrastructure projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business-critical initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Configure and troubleshoot employee, vendor, and customer VPNs
-
Configure and manage enterprise firewall policies (e.g., Palo Alto or equivalent platforms)
-
Perform maintenance and support of networking and related equipment
-
Troubleshoot enterprise network issues and assist other technical teams as needed
-
Contribute to the design, deployment, and maintenance of network systems
-
Identify and plan practical solutions for infrastructure-related problems
-
Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that enhance operations
-
Support infrastructure-related security strategies and ensure compliance with standards
-
Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance technical proficiency
-
Ensure high levels of systems and infrastructure availability
-
Provide Tier 3, 24x7 support for critical systems as needed

Handle confidential information with discretion
Perform other related duties as assigned

10+ years of relevant experience in networking and security

Proficiency with technologies such as:
-
Networking/Security: Cisco (ASA, ISE, Nexus, UCS), F5, Palo Alto
-
Automation/Orchestration: Ansible, PHP, Salt, Puppet, Chef
-
Compute Technologies: UCS, HCI, Bare Metal
-
Virtualization: VMware, Azure
-
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences, including executives

Professional, collaborative approach when working with peers, clients, and vendors

Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage dynamic workloads in fast-paced environments

Self-motivated with the initiative to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions

Skilled in designing, documenting, and communicating complex workflows

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Willingness to mentor and share knowledge with others

Openness to taking on tasks outside of routine responsibilities
Infrastructure Engineer III
Reason for opening: Retirement in Feb
Location: Local/Remote to KC – Candidate must be available to come onsite a few times per month for hands-on tasks. (office in Mission, KS)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $100,000 – $115,000
Must Have:
- Network & Firewall Expertise: Strong experience with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
- VPN Management: Skilled in configuring, modifying, and maintaining VPN connections.
- Ticketing Systems: Proven ability to manage and resolve tickets efficiently.
- Scripting/Automation: Experience with scripting or automation tools for network changes and log collection (specific language not required).
- Attention to Detail: Must be highly meticulous and detail-oriented.
- Experience Level: This role requires a seasoned professional who can hit the ground running. We are not considering junior-level candidates.
